Scientific Knowledge about chemical substancesDescribes the degree of scientific knowledge on chemical substances and the share of substances that can be assessed ("new" substances of concerns).
SEMPs | |
Smart environmental management practicesSmart Environmental Management Practices (SEMPs) are data-driven approaches and technologies that enable real-time monitoring, analysis, and decision-making to minimize environmental impacts and optimize sustainability across industries, including textiles.
SMESmall and Medium-sized Enterprise: Business that has typically fewer than 250 employees, often family-owned or operated by a small team.
SoC | |
SortingIn the context of recycling, sorting refers to the process of separating recyclable materials into different categories based on their type. This is done to ensure that each material is processed correctly and efficiently.
Standardisation on EU- and global levelDescribes the degree of standardisation of chemical traceability (on EU and global level), including information requirements and information formats.
Standardized dataStandardized data refers to information that is formatted and organized in a consistent way across different systems or organizations. This consistency makes it easier to compare, share, and analyze data.
StandardsA standard is an established set of harmonized criteria, guidelines, or specifications designed to ensure that products, services, and processes are safe, reliable, and consistently perform as intended. Standards are created by consensus, with representation from industries, and approved by recognized bodies. They contribute to interoperability, and quality across different industries and sectors.
Substances of ConcernSubstances of concern (SoC) are co-formulants in biocidal products. They may pose a potential risk to humans and the environment. The Biocidal Products Directive and the Biocidal Products Regulation explicitly state SoCs because they must be included in risk assessment.
Substances of Very High ConcernSubstances of Very High Concern (SVHC) are chemicals identified under REACH that pose significant risks to human health or the environment, requiring special attention and regulatory measures.
SupplierIn the textile industry, a supplier may refer to ay company or individual that provides raw materials, such as fabrics, threads, dyes, and other components, to manufacturers.
Supply chainA supply chain describe the network of individuals, organizations, companies, resources, processes, activities and communication, from the source material to the final end user, involved in the creation of a product, including production, manufacturing, and distribution.
SustainabilitySustainability refers to the practice of fulfilling present needs, while ensuring that future generations can also meet their needs. It promotes a balanced approach that integrates environmental protection, economic viability, and social responsibility.
SVHC | |
SWOTSWOT Analysis is strategic planning tool used to identify an organization's Strengths (internal advantages), Weaknesses (internal disadvantages), Opportunities (external advantages), and Threats (external disadvantages).
System mapSystem Mapping is a method to establish a visual representation of complex systems, relationships, and interactions between components, stakeholders, or processes to understand the overall structure, dynamics, and behaviour.
Systemic approachA systemic approach involves considering the interconnections and interactions within a system, particularly in the context of implementing chemical traceability, where multiple dimensions such as regulatory frameworks, market dynamics, and stakeholder engagement must be integrated.
